From a GPX 5000 to GPX 6000

From a GPX 5000 to GPX 6000

On a recent Gold and Relics WA tag-along tour, my trusty 5000 wasn't pulling in the gold like those with 6000s. Darren kindly lent me a 6000, and I immediately found a patch with ten nuggets. After two weeks back home, I decided to upgrade. I picked up my 6000 from Lucky Strike Gold on Friday afternoon, and by Saturday morning, I was at my favourite local goldfield.

After a morning of finding lead shot, I decided to try a new spot. Just twenty meters from the car, I discovered a two-gram nugget. Ten meters further and only a couple of minutes later, I got a strong signal. I scraped away some leaf litter with my foot, and the target had shifted. If I had been using the 5000, I likely would have dismissed it as it would have screamed. But with the new machine and new sounds, I decided to investigate. I’m glad I did!
