How Heidizaini Turned Metal Detecting into a Successful Business

Heidizaini’s journey into metal detecting began less than a decade ago when he was a handyman looking for a new hobby. What started as a pastime quickly turned into a business after he began discovering valuable metallic items during his hunts. He realised that metal detecting could provide more than just fun—it could become a source of extra income.

Encouraged by his wife, who had seen videos of others turning metal hunting into a profitable venture, Heidizaini decided to take the hobby more seriously. In 2017, he invested in a second-hand metal detector, and soon the couple went full-time into metal detecting.

Starting with beach hunts, they found plenty of valuable items lost by beachgoers, including jewellery, coins, and other metals. As their finds increased, so did their income, which quickly surpassed the earnings from his handyman work. They expanded their hunts to more locations, discovering even more treasures along the way.

Their growing success led them to build a strong community of over 1,000 metal-detecting enthusiasts, and they began sharing their knowledge through social media. They also sold the items they discovered, including gold ornaments and old coins, to collectors.
