Great Forest National Park Proposal Shut Down

Great Forest National Park Proposal Shut Down

Victoria’s Environment Minister has officially ruled out creating a new Great Forest National Park, a huge relief for many outdoor recreation groups.

This decision is a direct result of the tireless efforts of PMAV members and advocates who fought against the proposal. Among those leading the charge was Bill Schultz, who helped drive some of the largest submissions and rallies in Victoria’s history.

For years, bush user groups, conservation voices outside the pro-park lobby, and individuals committed to protecting state forests have worked together to make sure their concerns were heard. Their efforts ensured that misinformation was challenged, and that everyday land users had a say in the future of crown land access.

This outcome represents a win for common sense and for those who believe in keeping Victoria’s state forests accessible to everyone.
