In 1978, Kevin Hillier, his wife Bep, and their four young children left Western Australia to travel the country in an old renovated bus they called ‘Gus’. Guided by Bep’s unwavering faith and a remarkable series of events, they eventually found themselves living on the Victorian Goldfields.
While staying at the Bridgewater Caravan Park with very little money, Kevin experienced a vivid dream so powerful he drew it on paper and asked a friend to sign it. What followed would become part of Australian gold history.
On 26 September 1980, Kevin and Bep Hillier discovered one of the world’s largest gold nuggets behind an abandoned primary school in Kingower, Victoria.
