A Heart-warming Gift: A Gold Nugget that Will Make a Difference

In a heartwarming and rare act of generosity, a 15.5-ounce gold nugget has been donated to the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign in New Albany, offering the potential to raise thousands of dollars for those in need.

Weighing 15.5 troy ounces, the nugget is valued at approximately $67,620 AUD, and due to its exceptional rarity and quality, it is expected to fetch over $80,500 AUD at auction.

Craig Kissick, Vice President of Nature & Science for Heritage Auctions, emphasised the rarity of such a find, saying, "Nuggets of this size are inherently rare, and examples like this, especially of such high quality, often achieve a premium well beyond the value of the gold content alone."

The nugget was delivered anonymously to the Salvation Army by what they’re calling a “trusted elf” as part of the National Commander's Red Kettle Challenge, an initiative aimed at raising significant funds for local communities.

The Salvation Army of Southern Indiana has set a fundraising goal of $378,000 AUD to help fund essential programs and services in the coming year. This extraordinary donation is sure to make a lasting impact on their efforts to support those in need.
