A Surprise Find with the Minelab SDC 2300

Every now and then, I tag along with my husband on his gold detecting trips. He’s the keen detectorist in the family, while I’m more of a crafty type—I usually help him out or take the dog for a walk while he swings his Minelab GPX 6000.

Since he upgraded, I’ve started using his old Minelab SDC 2300, giving it a go for about an hour each time we head out. On a recent outing near an old hut site, I was thrilled to uncover something unexpected—a ring!

Just before that, I’d also found a piece of blue and white plate in the same area. It was such an exciting reminder that there’s more than just gold hiding out in the bush—sometimes history itself is waiting to be uncovered.
